Imis of Willowall (Gravel x Tina)  I believe that Imis has proven himself to be one of the most influential JRT stud dogs in history.  His almost unique ability to improve the structure (and, therefore, the movement) of virtually any bitch has benefited not only my breeding program, but that of many others as well.  The excellent reach and drive and angulation coupled with the equal forearm and shoulder blade he consistently produced created the effortless ground covering stride that should be indicative of this breed and its working heritage.  Thankfully this generic predisposition is being carried on by his get and his grand-get.  At his death at 15, he was still CERF clear and arthritis clear.  I often wondered if, as he was sunning himself in the garden, if he could possibly realize how venerated he would become. Treehouse Daisy (Pleasant Valley Chase x Treehouse Topaz)  Pictured here at 14 years young.  Although she was not purchased to be  a brood bitch, Daisy went on produce several AKC champions, including CH Blackbriar Watch Me, the #1 JRT all systems in 2000 and the #1 dog in 2001.  She also produced several other champions in her own right as well as being the grand dam or great grand dam of many others. Thankfully she never produced her body color, rather she always imparted good, rich color in all the right spots!.  Her joy of living, snuggling deep under covers, finding that last scrap of dropped food are all firmly entrenched in her downline kids.  Even now, at 16 years  old, she rules the roost with an iron paw!  She demands respect from the youngsters, keeps the intrepid squirrels in check, digs up a storm and, in general, is still ALL PRT!

Parkins RoseBay Willow  (Fox Grove Parkins Spike x Fox Grove Parkins Snap)  Willow is an English import from Steve Parkins.  It took several months to convince Steve to sell her to me, time that was well spent!  Willow has directly produced 5 champions making her Dam of the Year in 2000.  Seven of her grand-kids and 5 great grand-kids have also earned their championships.  Her contribution of exceptional breed type have proven invaluable to my breeding program.

With these three dogs I began an quest to produce a terrier that had it all!  I sought the conformation that would enable them to live up to their heritage, the coat that retains it wonderful dirt shedding quality, the temperament to add to my life as well as to that of other families who chose a Blackbriar pup.  It is a terrific feeling to look back at the last 16 years and feel I was on course to achieve my goals.  No dog is perfect, but I believe that mine come close.  Look at the photos of below (click to enlarge) as see what a PRT should move like and I think you will see why I am proud of my dogs.  These photos show the low hocks, laid back shoulder, long fore arm that are mandatory for good movement and soundness over a long lifetime.

These are the four beats of a trot as demonstrated by a father and son. This is the gait that proves a dog's movement and conformation. Notice the bend of knee.  Notice the parallel aspect of diagonal legs.  Notice that in beat 3 the converging feet occupy almost the same place.  Notice that at extension of the foreleg that the foot is dropped directly under the chin.  This is what good movement is - this is correct!
